ALL REALTORS® Must Complete the Fair Housing Training Requirement Every 3 Years
Fair Housing Training - Mandated by NAR
REALTORS® are required to complete Fair Housing / Anti-Bias Training upon becoming a member, and every 3 years thereafter, coinciding with the Code of Ethics training timeline. This requirement is in addition to the 2.5 hours of Code of Ethics training. Qualified training must be a minimum of 2 hours of instructional time. The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®. This requirement will begin January 1, 2025, with a deadline of December 31, 2027.
All REALTORS® must complete the Fair Housing training by December 31, 2027. Failure to complete training during any cycle will lead to suspension of membership for the January and February immediately following the cycle deadline, with termination of membership starting March 1 after the cycle deadline.

- As of January 1, 2024 all DRE licensees are required to complete Fair Housing/Implicit Bias training. If your date of course completion falls within the current cycle, you can upload your certificate to us to obtain credit for NAR's requirement.

Is there a cost associated with completing this requirement?
Not necessarily. Fairhaven is provided at no cost. Both At Home with Diversity and Bias Override are sometimes offered by OCR to members at no cost or are available through NAR or other providers for a cost.
I have completed C2EX training. Does that satisfy this requirement?
Yes – C2EX requires completion of the Fairhaven course, and therefore will satisfy the requirement.
Will a Fair Housing training by a state licensing authority satisfy my Fair Housing training requirement?
Yes, Fair Housing/Implicit Bias courses offered by a DRE-approved provider will satisfy this requirement. You can upload your certificate of completion to us for tracking at www.ocrealtors.org/fh-cert.
Do I still need to complete Fair Housing training if I have Emeritus, Honorary, or other Exempt Status from the DRE?
Yes, ALL active REALTOR® members must complete Fair Housing training by December 31, 2027, EXCEPT Emeritus Members. NAR Emeritus members do not have to complete Fair Housing training.
If you have DRE Exemption from Continuing Education, you will still be required to complete this course every 3 years.
